The new Veteran Community Care program provides Veterans with a greater choice over their health care, and allows VA to deliver world-class, seamless customer service either through a VA facility or community provider. The Police Athletic League (PAL) is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is dedicated to providing affordable after school, summer and athletic opportunities to more than 500 Tampa Bay youth.

Tampa Police Partnership

The Tampa Police Athletic League (PAL) partners with the Tampa Police Department to provide a safe, healthy environment for our community’s children and teens.

Tampa Police officers are assigned to PAL full-time to serve as coaches and mentors who teach campers safety and good decision making skills. PAL also  partners with a number of community organizations to provide athletic, educational and recreational development.

The DEA has joined forces with Discovery Education to create comprehensive, NO-COST digital curriculum tools to combat opioid misuse – available TODAY in every school, home, and state in the nation. With Virtual Field Trips, English & Spanish language standards-aligned K-12 curriculum resources, a parent toolkit, and a national peer-to-peer video challenge, look no further to kick-start life-saving actions today.

The Baker Act encourages the voluntary admission of persons for psychiatriccare, but only when they are able to understand the decision and its consequences and are able to fully exercise their rights for themselves. When this is not possible due to the severity of the person’s condition, the law requires that the person be extended the due process rights assured under the involuntary provisions of the Baker Act. Florida citizens who might harm themselves or others may be held involuntarily for assessment up to 72 hours. The statute for mental illness is called a Baker Act.  Background      FORMS

Welcome to the foundation of Mentors for Hillsborough County Veterans (MHCV). We are veterans who are dedicated to the men and women in Tampa Bay's Veterans Treatment Court (VTC).
 
Why We Do What We Do: 
Driven by the U.S. military values of loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity and moral courage, the volunteer mentors are Tampa Bay’s unsung heroes whose daily actions positively impact the well being of its local veterans and our community. They continue to pay it forward without any expectation of compensation or recognition. In fact, their “reward” is in the grateful acknowledgment from those veterans and their families and their well-being. The volunteer veteran mentors are the “quiet warriors” who will not rest until every veteran in trouble with the law is provided the needed resources to get well again and successfully reintegrate into our community.

But, in doing so, perhaps they have not even considered those quietly suffering in their churches and communities due to the present difficulties resulting from past traumatic experiences? How might the church minister more effectively to these individuals? The answer is to become trauma- informed. So, what is “trauma-informed ministry,” and does it have a place in your church and community?"
